1. What kind of courses do you offer?

We offer online courses focused on:

  • Cold Water Awareness: Learn how to prevent, recognize, and respond to cold water immersion risks. Cold water is typically defined as water below 15°C (59°F).

  • Baby Its Cold Outside: Provides knowledge and skills to properly handle subjects with cold injuries, including hypothermia.

 

2. Who are these courses for?

Our courses are ideal for:

  • Outdoor enthusiasts (hikers, skiers, campers, paddlers, recreational water users)

  • First responders, rescue teams and safety personnel

  • Teachers, guides, and outdoor educators

  • Parents, youth leaders, and youth groups

  • Anyone spending time near cold water or in winter environments

 

3. What will I learn in these courses?

You’ll learn about:

  • How cold affects the body

  • Cold shock response and hypothermia

  • Self-rescue and group safety techniques

  • Frostbite and hypothermia prevention

  • Proper clothing, gear, and preparation

  • Risk assessment and prevention

 

4. Are the courses online or in-person?

We currently offer online courses only, so you can learn at your own pace from anywhere.  The Canadian Safe Boating Council also offers an in-person Cold Water Workshop that we recommend.

5. Do I need any previous experience?

No. Our courses are designed for all skill levels - from beginners to experienced outdoor adventurers

 

6. How long does each course take?

Each online course takes 1.5–3 hours, depending on the course and your pace.

7. How much do the courses cost?

Online courses typically start at $55 per individual. For larger groups, please contact us for a custom quote.

8. How long will I have access to the course?
You’ll have access for one year from the date of registration.

​

9. What are the technical requirements?
None! You just need a computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet access. No special software is required.

10. Do I receive a certificate?

Yes. You’ll receive a digital Certificate of Completion after finishing any of our courses.

​

11. Is the course accredited or recognized for professional development hours?
At this time, our courses are not formally accredited by professional bodies or schools, and they do not count toward official PD hours. They are designed to provide valuable knowledge and practical skills for personal safety, education, and training purposes.

12. Are the courses available in other languages?
Currently, our courses are only offered in English.

13. Why are these courses important?

Cold water and cold winter conditions can be deadly—even in temperatures above freezing. Knowing how to prepare, dress, and react can save your life or someone else's.

14. How do I register?

Easy! Just visit our Online Courses page, choose your course, and follow the registration and payment instructions. You’ll receive course access immediately after enrollment.

15. What is the refund policy if I'm not satisfied?

PLAYSAFE SKILLS will refund any purchase in its entirety within 30 days of the purchase date, provided that the course has not been started. Once a course is started, no refunds will be given. To request a refund, please contact us at info@playsafeproductions.com
